Jermalism: Statements

After a few months of tagging and pondering what our street art project would look like, several boxes of blank shipping label stickers 'fell into my lap'. It was instantly obvious what needed to be done. I stuck a few of them together and bought some store bought stencil letters and etched the word JERM onto them. I intended to create my own stencil letter font but realized quickly that the store bought stencil letters blended well with the the text already found in the urban environment, and because of that they seemed to provide an illusion of authority, which was perfect. And so it began, we turned our markers away from tagging walls and started creating The Statements, which consist mostly of witty wordplay and one liners, ranging from light hearted humorous jokes to poignant social critiques, and everything in between.
